The Philippines’ Commemoration of its 125th Independence Day in UNO Vienna

The Philippines’ commemoration of its 125th Independence Day, ceremony held on Monday, 12 June 2023, at the UNO United Nations Vienna Austria. The occasion was attended by a large number of Filipino community, International Community, diplomats and the staff of the Embassy of Philippines also participated. The chief guest of this event was the former President and Deputy Speaker Philippine Gloria Macapagal. who came from Phillipien specially to participate in this event. The moderator of this program was Marizel Rojas VIC CF President who handled the program very well and people liked her very much. The first special prayer was given by Cindy Valenzuela. After that, the National Anthem was sung by everyone together. Odessa “Ody” Patron sang the song which was liked by everyone, and she got a lot of applause. Among the special guests who graced the occasion were former President Philippine Gloria Macapagal, H.E. Evangelina Lourdes BERNAS , m Permanent Representative to the United Nations (Vienna) / Resident Representative to IAEA,H E Ambassador Maria Cleofe R. Natividad, Jane Gerardo-Abaya, Director, Technical Cooperation for Asia and the Pacific IAEA, Congresswoman Linabelle Ruth Villarica and Congresswoman Lorna Silverio.

Chief guest former President and Deputy Speaker Philippine Gloria Macapagal ensured to address the “un-freedoms” in the society, including poverty and inequality. She said that I am very happy that our people in UN Vienna are doing a great job. They are shining the name of their country and I hope that in the coming times they will shine their name and the name of their country in the same way. My dear, I wish all such people a very happy 125th Independence Day.

Evangelina Lourdes BERNAS , m Permanent Representative to United Nations (Vienna) / Resident Representative to IAEA, Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes noted that our independence inspires us to redouble our efforts towards achieving a prosperous and comfortable life. Ambassador looked forward to further strengthening Philippines-Austria bilateral ties through more exchanges in economic, security, cultural and other areas. As the Philippines’ greatest resource is its people, the Embassy looks forward to more people-to-people exchanges in the future, especially among the youth. She Said Philippine relations are based on strong historical and cultural linkages and a shared commitment to democracy and human rights. I and my entire embassy team are always available to you if anyone has any problem, they can contact the embassy Philippines. Our job is to serve you. We are always standing by you. I wish all such people a very happy 125th Independence Day.

Jane Gerardo-Abaya,Director, Technical Cooperation for Asia and the Pacific IAEA. In a special address, about 4,000 people who are working at UN Vienna and are from the Philippines, today I want to tell you that the first project that was about waste the way we can dispose of waste and use it has also inspired the Philippines around the world. The Philippines is on the path of development and will bring more success to its country in the world in the coming times. I wish all such people a very happy 125th Independence Day.

All the distinguished guests who were sitting on top of the desk finally gave a message of Independence Day to all Filipinos in the world and to all the nations of the world.

Later, Marizel Rojas VIC CF President thanked everyone for coming to the program and invited them to breakfast. At the end of the program A special breakfast was organized for all the people which was very much liked by the people.
