Congress win in Karnataka, Modi Admits Defeat

In the state elections held in the Indian state of Karnataka, the Congress defeated the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and wrested the important state from Modi.

According to Indian media, after the Karnataka state elections on May 10, the results were announced today and the BJP has faced its worst defeat in the elections.

According to the results released by the Election Commission of India, the Congress has won 136 of the 224 seats in the Karnataka Assembly and has also secured a majority to form the government.

It should be noted that the support of 113 members is required to form the government in Karnataka.

Bharatiya Janata Party could get 64 seats and Janata Dal Party 20 seats. 11 members of the BJP state cabinet were defeated in the elections and now the state chief minister Basuraj Bomai who belongs to the BJP will resign today.

On the other hand, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also accepted the defeat in the state elections and congratulated the Congress on its victory.
