India: Lightning incidents in Uttar Pradesh, 38 Died

In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, at least 38 people have been killed in lightning incidents in a day. According to the report of Indian media, the highest number of 11 deaths in lightning incidents was reported in Pratapgarh yesterday.

In similar incidents, 7 deaths were reported in Sultanpur, 6 in Chandoli, 5 in Mainpuri, 4 in Prayagraj, one each in Oriya, Deoria, Hathras, Varanasi and Siddharthnagar. People have also been injured due to burns.

Meanwhile, many people were injured in Chandoli in eastern Uttar Pradesh and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Heavy rains accompanied by lightning struck the district between 4 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday. Most of the victims, including two cousins ​​aged 13 and 15, in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandoli district, were working in the fields or Killed by lightning while fishing.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh and adjoining states and Union Territories in the next five days.
